YOUNG book lovers can meet top authors at a fun day dedicated to reading and dogs.

The Hayling Island Bookshop has teamed up with the charity Canine Partners to present a dog-themed fun-filled family day out at Stansted House in Rowlands Castle.

The day will be packed with family-friendly amusements including a fun dog show and demonstrations by Canine Partner assistance dogs, vintage cars, craft stalls, children’s activities and an author tent.

In the author tent, staff from the bookshop will run events throughout the day featuring Roald Dahl Funny Prize winner Peter Bently with The Great Dog Bottom Swap for younger readers and the Two Steves, Steve Skidmore and Steve Barlow, with Action Dogs for older primary school readers.

Books can be bought at the event for signing by the authors.

Tickets will also give free access to Stansted Maze, and discounted access to Stansted Light Railway and Stansted House.

Dogs are welcome on the day and there will be a chance to visit local vet Ben Trimmer, director of Downland Veterinary Group in Emsworth, to ask questions and take advantage of free micro chipping.

Tickets for the event, on Sunday, are £3 for children, £5 for adults and £12.50 family tickets on the gate or from the bookshop.

A 10 per cent discount is offered for tickets bought online at stanstedpark.co.uk.
