Portsmouth College students rose to an impressive challenge by teaming up with the LightHouse charity. Students raised �700 in a 'Back To Basics' day, which was held at the college.

It was smiles all round at Horndean Technology College as students collected their GCSEs results.

Pupils packed into the school to open their envelopes and see their grades.

Year 9 pupil Lucy Taylor sat her maths GCSE early

Lucy Taylor, a Year 9 student, sat her maths GCSE early, and got an A*.

She said: ‘I am so happy. It is such a relief and I was surprised I did so well.’

Horndean Technology College, on Barton Road, got overall results of 73 per cent for A* to C and 59 per cent of A* to C including maths and English.
