STUDENTS from Bay House School in Gosport came out on top in a literature quiz.

The Solent Literature Quiz took place at Bridgemary School in Gosport.

The quiz is planned by Hampshire School Library Service and is supported by the Co-op of Carisbrooke Road, Bridgemary and Hayling Island Book Shop.

The participating schools were Bay House School and Sixth Form, Bridgemary School, Brune Park Community School, Cams Hill School, Hamble Community Sports College, Henry Cort Community College and Swanmore College.

This year, there was a literary line-up of authors who went head to head with the students including Ali Sparkes, Craig Simpson, Andrew Norriss and Judy Waite.

Kathryn Tooley, school library service manager for Hampshire County Council, said: ‘The Solent Lit Quiz is a fantastic way to create a buzz about reading and to encourage reading for pleasure.

‘It fuels pupils with a desire to extend their reading knowledge and provides with them with the opportunity to showcase that knowledge in a competitive but fun environment.’
