A GOSPORT school that lost its headteacher following a poor Ofsted rating will be advertising to fill the post by September next year.

Brune Park Community College is currently being led by head Chris Anders of Park Community School in Leigh Park, who will stay in place for the rest of the academic year as executive head.

Ian Johnson, the school’s former head, resigned recently – governors said he was planning to ‘pursue his professional career in a new context’.

Brune Park was given a notice to improve in May.

Daphne Rose, chair of governors, sent a letter to parents to inform them of the decision.

She said: ‘One of our major concerns was to remove the sense of uncertainty being felt by our staff.

‘Governors agreed to appoint a new head as of September 1, 2012, retaining in the meantime the much-valued contribution of Mr Anders.

‘The year will allow Mr Anders the time to put in place initiatives to bolster teaching and learning throughout the school.’

An advert will be placed before Christmas, and interviews will be held in late February.
