A SCHOOL has received recognition from Fifa for its new sports pitch.

Bridgemary School recently underwent the testing process for its new state-of-the-art pitch.

The test was done by Labosports on behalf of Fifa.

It is a series of stringent tests before the highly-respected Fifa certificate can be issued.

Scott Sivier, partnership development manager at the school said: ‘We’re very pleased to announce that the test met all the standards and the facility is now classed as a Fifa 1 star pitch.

‘The Fifa Recommended 1 Star is mainly for recreational, community and municipal use.

‘The certificate allows all local leagues to play their accredited and associated football matches on our surface.

‘The school will now work closely with Hampshire Football Association to promote the use of the pitch at weekends to local teams to ensure games are fulfilled rather than the on-going issues of cancellations and postponements due to adverse weather.’

The Fifa standards for sports turf systems are designed to ensure that a consistent world class standard of surface is available internationally.

The surfaces must require a minimum amount of maintenance, yet be available for the development of players’ skills all year round.

Through research and testing, the development of the products as well as training provides the wider community with surfaces able to meet these stringent standards at the start of the project.

It also allows long-term use.
