TEACHERS raised thousands of pounds by abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower.

Eighteen members of Leesland School, in Gosport, are hoping to raise £3,000 from the challenge which will be donated to the school’s swimming pool project. So far £45,000 has been raised.

Kate Dowell, business manager at the school, said: ‘All of us who took part were quite anxious and some were nothing short of terrified but we conquered our fears and descended down the tower in various styles.

‘We were thrilled at the number of people who came and supported us.’
