A PRIMARY school is to be presented with an award for its commitment to sustainable travel.
Congestion has been reduced in the village of Birdham, near Chichester, after Birdham Primary School created a ‘walking bus’.
The walkers set off every morning from the village hall. Many families also cycle or scooter to school and children who use a sustainable form of transport are given a free high visibility vest.
Councillor Pieter Montyn, who heads transport at West Sussex County Council, will visit the school to hand over a Travel Mark 3 Award to pupils and staff.
