TWO hairdressing and barbering students at Chichester College have reached the national finals of a hairdressing competition.

Lucy Holly, who is studying for a level two barbering diploma, came first in the men’s competition.

Cody Dougan, studying for a level two diploma in hairdressing, came third in the first-year blow dry.

The pair secured their places after impressing judges during the southern regional heat of an Association of Hairdressers and Therapists competition earlier this month.

They were among 12 students from Chichester College competing.

It means they will now represent the region at the AHT National Championships in Blackpool on Monday, March 14.

Mr Dougan said: ‘I felt really nervous as this was my first competition and I wasn’t feeling confident with my blow dry – but my tutor pushed me and he helped me to build my confidence, making me feel excited to compete. The atmosphere was amazing.’
