Hampshire’s school meal prices held

THERE is good news for parents as the price of school dinners served by Hampshire County Council’s catering service will stay the same for the fourth year in a row.

Cllr Roy Perry, the county councillor in charge of education, who approved the £2 cost per meal, said: ‘I am mindful that we are living in difficult economic times so hope this news is welcomed by parents.’

Currently more than one in three pupils across the county eats a school meal each day.

The rise in popularity of the meals is attributed to the addition of tasty lunchtime favourites, including roast dinners, turkey curry, pizza, and fish.

Vegetarian choices include sweet potato and lentil curry, vegetable and bean bake and Italian tomato pasta.
