GIFTED girl footballers swept to success in the Hampshire Games.

The annual games see young stars from across the county compete in a variety of sports.

The Havant Girls’ Football Team, made up of 10 girls from five different schools beat 10 other teams to be crowned champions.

Keith and Jackie Turner, from Widbrook United, had worked with the girls coaching them into a winning team.

This was the first time that Havant had won the girls’ football competition.

Councillor Yvonne Weeks, who is responsible for sport, said: ‘The Hampshire Games offer a great opportunity for the young people of Havant to take part in a competitive sports competition within a friendly environment.

‘Many of the young people will have been inspired to keep playing sport for many years to come thanks to 
the hard work and commitment from local sports clubs.’
