OPINIONS are being sought on the location of a secondary school in a proposed 6,000-home town.

Fareham Borough Council is asking for comments on whether the secondary school in Welborne should be located with its playing fields on Winchester City Council land or next to the district centre.

The plans for Welborne were submitted to the planning inspectorate on Tuesday. Executive member for planning Cllr Keith Evans said: ‘We received a number of objections against the proposed location of the school and the use of land to south of Knowle for playing fields.

‘We’ve taken these into account and decided to incorporate an alternative location for the school, which is the subject of this consultation.’

The consultation runs for six-weeks from Wednesday, June 25. To make a representation go to fareham.gov.uk
