Ian Whybrow: Sense of wonder

Writer Ian Whybrow, author of the Harry And The Dinosaurs series, picked Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll as his favourite book.

'It's a book my mum read to me a lot when I was young. There was a great deal of it I simply didn't understand when I was seven, eight or nine. But I loved her enthusiasm for it.

'I loved it for its madness. Also I had a real sense there was a certain amount I was following, there were other things going on in this book which I would find out about gradually as I grew up, and that's certainly true.

'There's much more to this book than meets the eye.'
