STAFF and students at St John’s College in Southsea are celebrating a glowing inspection which highlighted excellent teaching and boarding provision.

The report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate acknowledged relationships between staff and pupils as being of a very high standard, and judged the quality of pupils’ achievements as ‘good’. Their personal development was also described as ‘excellent’.

It added: ‘The quality of teaching is good overall and some teaching is excellent.’

Headmaster Graham Best, who is approaching the end of his first year, said: ‘I am very pleased with our report – it gives a fair and realistic assessment of St John’s, recognising our strengths but also reaffirming a few areas for development on which we are already working.’
