STUDENTS in Portsmouth were inspired and motivated by a talk by the fastest blind man on water and on land.
Steve Cunningham, holder of the blind land speed and powerboat records, made a strong impression at Portsmouth College. He talked about going completely blind at the age of 12 – and how much he achieved in the world of sport as well as raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.
Sonny Stedman, 16, said: ‘He has inspired us not to take things for granted – anything is possible if you put your mind to it.’
Callum Harmes, 16, said: ‘He is a truly amazing individual and shows you can achieve absolutely anything.’
The college has organised Mr Cunningham’s visit that will see him tour eight city schools this week including The Mary Rose special school.
