ENTERPRISING youngsters have been fundraising to pay for an educational trekking trip to Iceland.

Pupils from Priory School, Southsea, have been training in the Lake District and the South Downs to prepare for their icy expedition exploring the country’s extraordinary geography, in summer 2016.

To raise funds, they are busy fundraising with cake sales and film nights.

Headteacher James Humphries said: ‘The ambition and resolve of these students is remarkable. To start what we hope will be a long line of inspiring expeditions focused on science and community takes courage and determination.

‘In so doing they are developing their own self-confidence and skills such as planning, financial management and camp craft. They are also changing the mind set of other students and adults.’

The expedition is being organised in collaboration with the Bohunt Education Trust, which sponsors Priory School.
