Johnny Ball to appear at Fareham College

JOHNNY Ball will make a guest appearance at Fareham College as part of the Education Business Partnership’s annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (Stem) Fair.

The star, who has written and presented shows such as Think of a Number and Think Again, will be presenting a lecture on ‘Funtastic Maths’ to an audience of school students aged between nine and 13.

The lecture will look at the history of maths and show how it is applicable to science, technology and engineering.

Mr Ball said: ‘I am so pleased to have been asked to come to the Stem Fair at Fareham College.

‘I relish the thought of showing the audience the sort of maths thinking that empowered scientists in the past and explaining how our future mathematicians and scientists will play an even greater role in improving everything we do for ourselves and the world in the future.’

The Stem Fair will give young people the chance to experience how Stem is important in the workplace. It aims to give them the motivation to study such subjects at higher levels.

It runs between Tuesday, and Thursday next week.
