Keen young chefs urged to enter competition

BUDDING young chefs across the area are being invited to take part in a regional cookery competition.

Pupils are being invited to enter The Create and Cook Competition via their schools, by designing a two-course menu for two people using locally-sourced ingredients.

The competition is held for teams of two pupils aged between 12 and 14, and is run by fit2cook food education and sponsored by The Southern Co-operative.

Children from Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight take part. Last year two pupils from Bay House School in Gosport made it to the final.

Min Raisman, organiser of the competition, said: ‘Each year The Create and Cook Competition judges are amazed by the high standard of entries and the genuine interest that the young entrants have in local produce.

‘We are looking particularly for the teams’ knowledge of local ingredients and seasonality – not to mention their creativity and cooking skills.’

The closing date for Hampshire entries is Easter. Visit fit2cook.co.uk/createandcook.
