THE beautiful sound of recorders, hand bells, and even the ukulele echoed through a church as more than 350 people gathered to watch children perform in a Christmas concert.

The sixth year of the Waterlooville Schools Christmas Concerts at St George’s Church was once again a great success.

Children from Queens Inclosure, Purbrook Infants and Purbrook Juniors made sure the opening night was one to remember.

Father Mike Sheffield said: ‘The atmosphere was fantastic with all the children singing and playing. The grand finale was a modern carol called Come and Join The Celebration. It was very upbeat.’

Other schools taking part in the three-day extravaganza were Stakes Hill Infants, Hulbert Juniors, St Peter’s, Mill Hill and Hart Plain Juniors.
