ECO-friendly youngsters used £100 prize money to help remove litter from Hayling seashore.

The children from Portsmouth Grammar Junior School have just made their 17th visit to the beach to remove rubbish - with extra litter pickers and gloves bought with their Tidy Schools award from the council.

Louise Dean, year four teacher and organiser, said: ‘We felt it was important to use the prize money on a project that would benefit the wider community.

‘We have found a variety of objects – a set of false teeth, a bird’s skull, small military figures, shoes, a vanity set, pens and car keys and tyres, though we are still looking for the car.’
