YOUNGSTERS were inspired to pick up their pens to write about a mysterious object they found in the woods near their school.

Teachers took pupils on a stroll through the grounds on Wednesday, before leading them to discover a brightly-coloured door.

Other members of staff got in on the act and pupils were encouraged to record their thoughts on the experience.

Teacher Leanne Scott said: ‘They were really excited and were wondering how it got there.

‘There was a real buzz through the school about it.’

Gosport firefighters, who were at the school giving fire safety advice, then carried the door out of the woods and placed it in a classroom.

Year four pupil Sophie Hulse, 8, said: ‘It was pretty, not scary.

‘It was such an amazing find we are going to write about it.’
