A MUSEUM has welcomed its 10,000th school pupil to its learning department.

The Mary Rose Museum has seen 170 schools and colleges pass through its doors since opening on May 31.

Mary Kinoulty, head of learning at the museum, said: ‘We are delighted with the success of our new learning programme.

‘Schools have come from all over the country to visit us and take part in workshops in the Stavros Niarchos Learning Centre.

‘It was a great pleasure to welcome Harrison Primary School, Fareham; a class from there took the student tally over this landmark point.

‘We look forward to welcoming many more schools and colleges throughout 2014 and beyond.’
