STAFF and pupils at City of Portsmouth Girls’ School have started digging a Garden of Reflection for quiet contemplation of lost loved ones.

The garden, inspired by 14-year-old pupil Jodie Deeming who died from a rare bone cancer, has been designed by former classmates.

Headteacher Sharon Watt said: ‘Jodie’s passing away last August was the catalyst for this project – to help the girls who want to sustain Jodie’s memory but also to contemplate other friends and relatives.’

The garden, which has been sponsored by local businesses, will feature a mosaic of tiles, trellises and bright plants.
