READERS of The News have been asked if they have any memories of a Portsmouth primary school to contribute to a book celebrating its 80th anniversary next year.

Westover Primary in Milton hopes to mark the big occasion with a book packed with fond memories and photos from staff and pupils past and present.

Sue Kenward, the school’s lunchtime supervisor, who came up with the idea, said: ‘I’d like to ask if any of you attended the school, and if you did, do you have fond memories of it or photos that you can share with me please?

‘We are thinking about putting them into a book for the children, so that they can see how things have changed over the years.

‘All sorts of things would be interesting to hear, like teachers’ names, and headteachers, what the school day was like, what playground games they played and what lessons they enjoyed.’

Anyone who would like to make a contribution to the book should write to Sue at Westover Primary School, Westover Road, Copnor, PO3 6NS.
