PARENTS have been giving their children a helping hand at reading as part of a scheme at a city school.
Year 1 and 2 pupils at Paulsgrove Primary in Portsmouth have been working with their parents to help improve their literacy skills.
Tina Thompson, learning mentor for the school, said: ‘The parents come in and they work with their child with fun activities that they can use at home to improve their reading, speaking and listening.
‘The parents get an opportunity to come into school and see how we teach literacy.
‘For children with brothers or sisters it gives them definite quality time with their parents.
‘They absolutely love it. They really do enjoy it.’
