THE University of Portsmouth has appointed Adrian Parry to the new role of director of corporate governance.

He replaces the university secretary and clerk to the board of governors role.

Mr Parry will join the university executive board in May.

He will support the university by ensuring the effective and efficient conduct of the board of governors.

Professor Graham Galbraith, vice-chancellor of the university, said: ‘I’m very pleased to announce this new appointment to the university leadership team.

‘Adrian has significant experience from a range of higher education organisations and his appointment will support the continued development of the university by ensuring sector-leading governance and legal compliance.’

Mr Parry is currently university secretary at the University of Bedfordshire, where he has worked since 2009.

He said: ‘I’m thrilled to have been offered this role at such a high-profile, modern university.

‘I am really impressed by the quality of teaching and research at Portsmouth and the importance that the university places upon widening participation and access to higher education.’
