A NEW temporary head of education has been appointed at Portsmouth City Council.

Julien Kramer replaces Di Mitchell who took early retirement. Mr Kramer was interim chief education officer for the London Borough of Hillingdon from 2011 to 2013.

He is a teacher by background and reached the role of deputy head at secondary level.

His contract will run until next summer when the council plans to recruit a permanent post-holder.

Councillor Rob Wood, cabinet member for children’s services, said: ‘I welcome the new interim head of education, who will be taking forward the excellent work we have been doing.

‘He comes with great credentials in working with people and we will benefit from his vast experience within both schools and local authorities.’
