Professional Property Renovation Limited started work on building a new extension at Motiv8’s venue in Toronto Place, Gosport earlier this month.

The extension to the building is due to be completed in June and will enable Motiv8 to offer improved facilities and reach out to more young people across Portsmouth, Fareham Gosport and Havant.

The cost of the extension is £85,000 and a £50,000 grant from property charity, LandAid Charitable Trust Limited, and a £15,000 one-off capital grant from The Clothworkers’ Foundation has enabled the work to start. Motiv8’s own Buy a Brick campaign has raised over £5,000 with a further £15,000 still needed.

Motiv8’s Gosport and Fareham services manager, Kirsty Cremer, said: ‘We are all so excited that the extension to Toronto Place has started.

‘Due to the amount of young people we are currently supporting we had to convert our office to a media suite for young people so we are currently without any office space.

‘The new extension will give us more room to support young people in a confidential and safe environment, as well as office space and a specific area for our young people to access training, education and employment opportunities.

‘Our Buy a Brick campaign continues as we are still in need of funds for the internal fixtures and fittings.

‘We are so grateful to everyone in the community that has either bought a brick or fundraised for the extension.

‘When it’s finished, the new look Toronto Place will ensure young people have the best support now, and a better future.’

If anyone would like to support the campaign then please donate at tinyurl.com/njlaxae, Facebook or motiv8south.org.

Clay Meader, Professional Property Renovation Limited site supervisor said: ‘We can see from the number of young people coming and going that the space is needed.’
