FAREHAM College has announced that a new principal is set to take over.

Nigel Duncan has been appointed as principal and chief executive of the college, in Bishopsfield Road in Fareham.

Mr Duncan has been in the role of acting principal since Carl Groves, the previous principal and chief executive, became seriously ill.

Mr Groves recently retired from his position after nine years at the helm.

Mr Duncan, a former vice principal of the college, has worked in the further education sector for over 30 years in four different colleges around the country.

He will take up the post formally in March.

He will then immediately begin working with internal colleagues and other stakeholders at the college.

Mr Duncan said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to have been appointed as principal of Fareham College and look forward to working with, and for, the Fareham, Gosport and surrounding communities to provide them with an outstanding college.’
