GOVERNORS at St Edmund’s Catholic School in Portsmouth have appointed a new headteacher.

Simon Graham, deputy head at Bitterne Park School, Southampton – an inner-city school of 1,500 pupils – was unanimously approved for the job which he will start in September.

Meanwhile, Mr Graham will make regular visits to St Edmund’s over the coming months to work with the school’s senior management team and ensure a smooth transition in the lead-up to the new academic year.

He will step into the shoes of interim head Chris Whitfield, who was appointed last October when former head Isabelle O’Mara stood down.
