CHILDREN are happy and remain busy at a new pre-school that has been awarded a good Ofsted grade.

Wickham pre-school, which has operated from Wickham CoE Primary since January, and has 17 children on its books, received the second-best rating from government inspectors.

The report read: ‘All children are happy and settle quickly in the pre-school due to the care taken to meet their individual needs. Children that have attended the pre-school since its opening are making good progress.

‘Staff listen to the children as they talk and ask them about what they are doing or trying to achieve, to encourage them to think for themselves.’

It continued: ‘There is a calm atmosphere and children remain busy, moving from one activity to another.’
