PORTSMOUTH will step back into the 1940s this Sunday with music, retro fashion, oversized cameras and even a vintage car from the classic wartime decade.

A close harmony trio of creative and performing arts students from the University of Portsmouth called The Three Belles are inviting guests to the event in one of the Guildhall’s function bars at 7.30pm.

Isabelle Moore, 21, a member of The Three Belles, said: ‘It’s going to be an amazing night. The atmosphere will be very relaxed - we want to transform people back to the 1940s.

‘There will be actors in the audience dressed as GIs and British soldiers, and we’ll be entertaining with classic tunes from the Andrews Sisters alongside the University of Portmsouth Big Band who will play Glenn Miller.

‘We’ll also have a vintage car parked outside and a 1940s photographer with oversized camera to take pictures.

‘We hope guests will dress to suit the occasion - and for anyone who doesn’t know what to do with their hair, our very own Betty will be doing 1940s victory rolls for just one pound!’

Tickets costing £10 (£8 conc) can be bought at door or by calling 07756 878 741.
