PARENTS and carers of children who are due to start infant school or transfer to junior school next year in Portsmouth only have one week left to apply for a place.

Application forms must be received by Portsmouth City Council or at the child’s school by Sunday, January 15.

Being on time with an application for a school place makes sure children have the best chance of getting a place at their preferred school.

Children starting school need to have been born on or between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008.

Parents whose children are due to transfer to junior school and are already attending an infant school in Portsmouth, can get an application from their child’s current school.

However, the quickest way to apply is online at admissions.portsmouth.gov.uk.

For help with the application process, parents and carers can call (023) 9284 1228.

They can also send an email to admissions@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or go to portsmouth.gov.uk and type ‘school admissions’ in the website’s search box.
