KAYAKING, climbing and archery were just some of the fun outdoor activities Petersfield schoolchildren enjoyed during a trip to northern France.

Boys and girls from Ditcham Park School aged between 13 to 15 years spent five days in the beautiful Château du Broutel in Picardy.

During their stay they took part in several outdoor sports as well as a tour of the museums and monuments of the Somme, and a day in Paris.

The pupils enjoyed testing their language skills, especially when they were ordering snails and frogs legs, ice-creams and hot chocolate.

They also tried their hand at film-making.

Anne Coleman, head of modern foreign languages, said: ‘We were blessed with glorious weather during our week-long stay and have had a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding time.

‘Queues are already forming to get names down for next year’s trip – always a good sign!’
