Pauline Rowson: Golden age of crime

Crime writer Pauline Rowson talks about her favourite book – The Port Of London Murders by Josephine Bell.

'I'm a particular fan of what they call the golden age of crime, which are crime novels written between the period 1920 and about 1940.

'They were classic novels that had a puzzle to solve, and it is that puzzle that I like solving myself in my novels.

'It's also about drug addicts from the poor as well as from the rich and how they are exploited. So it could be a modern-day novel as well as one written years ago.'
