AN AWARD has been given to Portsmouth City Council for its work with Rock Challenge.

The award was presented by Rock Challenge, the annual performance competition for young people, in recognition of its support.

Stuart McGregor, UK manager of Rock Challenge, presented the council with a framed gold CD.

Cllr Linda Symes, the council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: ‘UK Rock Challenge started in Portsmouth in 1996, and has now spread across Britain, bringing children and young people together through dance and musical theatre. It’s such a worthy cause.’

Mr McGregor said: ‘The council has been supporting Rock Challenge almost since its inception. We’re delighted that the relationship is continuing.’
