A NURSERY was transformed into a circus filled with balloons and entertainment to celebrate its 10th birthday.

More than 250 children, staff and parents enjoyed the sparkling celebrations at Portsmouth Grammar School Nursery.

Guests who included the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr Cheryl Buggy, enjoyed a rousing version of Happy Birthday sung by the children as a special commemorative cake was wheeled out.

Activities throughout the day included a clown, a stilt-walker and balloon-modelling as well as a chance to learn circus skills.

Peter Hopkinson, head of the junior school, said: ‘Our nursery has gone from strength to strength over the last 10 years. We are all looking forward to the next 10 years!’
