A NEW nursery is holding a fun day to mark its official opening.

Tops Day Nursery will open the doors to its new building at Highcross’ Lakeside North Harbour business park on October 1 and celebrate the occasion with families that will use the nursery.

There will be children’s games and crafts at the event as well as entertainment from In The Night Garden characters, Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisey.

Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Lynne Stagg, will cut the ribbon to officially declare the site open and families will have the opportunity to look round the site.

The 60-place nursery will provide care for babies and children from three months to five years.

There are also plans for a second phase of development on the same site, to provide a breakfast, after school and holiday play club for older children aged five to 11.

Managing director, Cheryl Hadland, said: ‘Our nursery at the Queen Alexandra Hospital is now reaching capacity and we wanted to open another site close by.’

When running, the nursery will be open from 7am to 7pm and open on bank holidays.
