A PRE-SCHOOL has been awarded the best possible Ofsted grade after inspectors praised the imaginative activities planned for children.

Little Sunbeams pre-school, which operates from a classroom in Stamshaw Infants, was rated ‘outstanding’ by inspectors.

It was praised for excellent safeguarding of children, strong leadership, outstanding resources and ensuring ‘all children thrive and make excellent progress’.

Inspector Eira Gill wrote: ‘Children’s achievement is outstanding in all areas of learning because almost all practitioners are exceptionally skilled in supporting the children.

‘Activities are imaginative and very well planned. Children are prepared very well for the next stage of their education.

‘Practitioners value greatly the children’s interests and ideas and include these in their planning. All children show a strong sense of security and belonging.’

Sunbeams, which currently has 44 two to five-year-olds on its roll, opened in 2007.
