PUPILS are swapping their cars for scooters to get them to school in the morning.

St John’s College has teamed up with Portsmouth
City Council to encourage pupils to go to school by scooter.

Headteacher Tony Shrubsall said: ‘We were approached by the My Journey Team in November and we were delighted to take part.

‘Pupils were excited about the new initiative – many had received a scooter for Christmas and were eager to put their gift to good use.

‘As a result over 60
students signed up for the challenge.’

The junior school pupils were taught how to use a scooter safely and were given etiquette lessons for riding on the pavement.
