MASON Chamberlain, 11, of Lyndhurst Junior School, won the Overcoming Difficulties category.

When he joined the Crofton Road school, in North End, in Year 3, he was behind in English and maths and had behaviorial problems.

But through the help given by teachers and his grandparents Julie Cronin, 51, and Brian Cronin, 52, he has improved dramatically.

Mason said: ‘I’ve learnt to listen and calm down thanks to my nan and grandad.

‘This has helped me to calm down and now I have friends at school. I’m pleased to have won.’
