A SCHOOL in Portsmouth has been given top marks for helping all its staff members achieve their potential.

City of Portsmouth Girls’ School is celebrating the accolade of Investors in People Gold Standard – the most prestigious award in the UK for business improvement through people.

Deputy head Bev Scammell said the school had worked hard to develop a strong ethos of professional development for both teachers and support staff, together with rigorous planning, target setting and evaluation.

She added: ‘These principles have been recognised as a strength of the school by many visitors, including Ofsted which said the school has a “clear vision and is very outward looking”.’

David Esau, who carried out the assessment in July, said: ‘This is a school where the entire staff are a co-ordinated team that lives out the school’s core values of confidence, progress, growth and success in a community where every child and adult matters.

‘The visit was an inspiring an uplifting experience.’
