A PORTSMOUTH theatre is inviting schoolchildren to create their own miniature theatre scenes for a special exhibition on Charles Dickens’ 200th birthday.

The New Theatre Royal’s Little Theatre challenge means youngsters will be able to share the limelight with the literary great on February 7.

While imaginations will have no barriers, designs need to be fitted into 44 Perspex containers and can be no bigger than 18.5cm in height by 16cm wide and 3.5cm deep.

Fiona Wilson, the theatre’s fundraising campaign director, said: ‘The possibilities are endless. Just have fun!

‘How about a scene which depicts a part of the theatre’s history, or a scene from your favourite Dickens classic?’

Register your interest in creating a Little Theatre by January 30 by emailing lm@newtheatreroyal.com or calling 023 9277 8991. Entries must be dropped in at the dress circle bar on Monday, February 6.
