YOUNGSTERS from a primary school were given a tour of the corridors of power by an MP.

The Year 6 pupils from Milton Park Primary School were invited to spend the day at the Houses of Parliament by Portsmouth South MP Flick Drummond.

While there they watched a debate on housing benefits in the House of Commons.

Teacher Lee Branscombe said: ‘All the children really enjoyed it.

‘It was good for them to see debating in action.

‘The visit put a lot of things into context for them as part of their British values curriculum – about everyday democracy and the rule of law.

‘It gave them a lot to think about, about their careers’.
