HUNDREDS of items of sportswear have been donated by generous Milton students to support a football club for HIV-stricken children in South Africa.

Boys and girls at Miltoncross dug deep to buy shirts, boots and gloves for the Alexandra Town players – many of whom are HIV positive.

The generous gifts were added to a full strip for 40 players donated by the Pickwick Youth Football Club, whose treasurer is a parent at the school.

The football club for 90 boys and girls is run by Zute Lightfoot and his wife Demelza, who is the sister of Miltoncross PE teacher Liz Cloke.

Miss Cloke gave a talk about the club in assembly last year.

She said: ‘I am overwhelmed with the response from our students. They’re making a big difference.’
