TALENTED Holly Taylor got to see her own creation come to life when she was greeted by Percy the Penguin, the new mascot for The Pyramids Centre designed by the six-year-old.

More than 150 pupils from 11 schools across Portsmouth entered the competition to draw a new mascot for the Southsea leisure centre, with the Penhale Infants School pupil being picked as the winner.

Holly was awarded a certificate, a complimentary year’s family swim as well as other gifts including swimsuit and goggles for her winning design. Every child in her class was also awarded a free family swim too.

Percy is already proving popular, making appearances at pool parties and meet-and-greet sessions.
