HEALTHY eating and living has earned a pre-school in Copnor a prestigious award – and a visit from a big green frog-like mascot.
Fifty youngsters at St Albans Pre-school were thrilled to receive their Healthy Pompey Scheme certificates from friendly amphibian Healthy Harvey.
The two to four-year-olds have been working hard over the last 18 months growing their own vegetables, learning how to keep their teeth clean and exercising regularly.
Lisa Simpson, the nursery’s supervisor who has been overseeing the challenge, said: ‘The children were thrilled to see Healthy Harvey – it was a great way to celebrate all their excellent work.
‘They’ve been enjoying growing their own vegetables and eating healthier snacks, as well as fun games outdoors to give them more structured exercise.’
She added: ‘These children are the future. Now is the right time to instill all these healthy habits for life.’
