STAFF from a pre-school have abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower in a bid to raise cash to buy new equipment.

Four members of staff from the Parade Community Pre-School in Hilsea took part in the abseil.

Manager Cathy Carley said it went very well.

‘We were nervous leading up, but once up there I forgot about being nervous,’ she said.

‘All our parents and children were very supportive. We had husbands and family waiting for us at the bottom.

‘It felt like an amazing achievement. We would all do it again.

‘As a fundraising pre-school we are constantly having to come up with new ideas to raise funds for the school for equipment and everyday expenses.’

Jayne Whatling, deputy manager added: ‘We were very nervous especially when we arrived but once we got up there, the adrenaline took over and we just went for it.’

So far, the group have raised at least £500.
