CITY of Portsmouth Girls’ School pupils and parents attended a high-profile awards evening at the Portsmouth Guildhall last week.

Subject and special awards were presented to girls in year seven to 10, followed by the presentation of GCSE certificates and special awards for achievements in PE and overcoming difficulties.

The evening was complemented by showpieces from the school’s choir and GCSE dance groups.

Headteacher Sharon Watt said: ‘This is always such a wonderful occasion to celebrate an outstanding school community.

‘Almost 1,000 people joined us for the evening as parents and other family members celebrated together the successes of their girls.’

Head girl Alice Gale, 15, said: ‘It was such an enjoyable evening that truly highlighted the talent in the school as well as the academic achievement.’
