THE rain may have cast a grey shroud over the high street on Thursday but inside the shopping centre, Fareham was dotted with bright shades of orange as children put their hands to pumpkin carving.

Fareham Borough Council put on workshops throughout the half-term week, including the pumpkin play day.

Scores of families took part in the session outside of BHS in Fareham Shopping Centre.

Artist Paula Hemingway helped the children carve their pumpkins, including Loreli Lowis, aged two, from Gosport,

Executive member for leisure cllr Sue Bell, said: ‘I am pleased that pumpkin play day was a great success despite the inclement weather.

‘Thanks to all who got involved, and to Broadcut Sainsbury’s for its kind pumpkin donation.’
