TALENTED youngsters at Cottage Grove Primary School got a taste of stardom by recording a pop CD.

More than 240 pupils from reception to year six spent three days rehearsing a specially-composed selection of pop songs before making their final recording.

Their CDs will now be sold at a concert at St Peter’s Church in Somers Town tomorrow, where the boys and girls are due to perform the songs live.

Polly Honeychurch, headteacher, said: ‘I am so excited about the concert and I know the children are looking forward to it.

‘I’m so proud of all of them because it takes a lot of guts to stand in front of an audience and perform.’

She added: ‘This recording is just one of the ways we show our children that whatever your background, you can really achieve.

‘One of the children came to me and asked “now that I’ve made a recording, does it mean I’m famous?” and I replied “yes it does!” ’

The free concert at St Peter’s on Friday runs from 6pm until 7pm.

CDs made with the Pop Connection scheme will be on sale for £7.50.
